Portugal is located in Southern Europe, and has been making a name for itself in the tourism industry over the past few years. Although Portugal used to be one of the poorest countries in Europe, this has changed as of late. And of course, do not forget about the climate. Yearly temperature averages are approximately 60 degrees Fahrenheit. But in the summer, temperatures regularly reach 100 degrees or more. This makes for the perfect climate for anybody who is looking for a great vacation destination.

There are three international airports in Portugal. They include Lisbon, Faro, and Porto. All of these airports have regularly scheduled flights to and from the United States as well as other parts of the world.

Your best bet for getting around Portugal is by train or car. Trains from Lisbon, the country’s capital, head to most of the major cities. Additionally, many tourists take the train from Lisbon to Madrid, Spain while visiting the area.

Although there are many quality hotels in Portugal, make sure that you search around before you book a room. Some hotels are not of the highest quality, so doing the proper amount of research is always a good idea. After all, you do not want your trip to be ruined by a poor selection of lodging.

Portugal is on its way up as far as the tourism industry is concerned. If you are interested in traveling to Europe and want to have fun in the sun, it does not get much better than Portugal.
